Reasons not to use the InvestmentWiki

  • Time. Contributing to the wiki is time consuming which is an opportunity cost if the alternative is to not contribute.
  • Alternatives. There might be tools/platforms to build a reputation which give the contributor more visibility.
  • Secrecy. For very specific bits of information of which the information hold thinks are not yet priced in it might make sense to not share that information. But this would only apply to situations in which the information holder hasn't yet translated his/her information into a tradable strategy and before he/she has finished building up a position.
