Draft. To be reconciled

Summary

Enterprise clients does not contribute much revenue to Upwork. In Q1 2023, enterprise revenue was $11.4 million[1]. In order to understand the characteristics of these clients, we surveyed 5,000 or 7% of hourly jobs posted in Upwork platfom on May 29, 2023. Below is our findings[2];

  • Out of the 5,000 jobs posted, only 171 came from Enterprise clients.
  • Enterprise clients were only 39.
  • Their average hourly rate is $33.
  • Since they joined Upwork, they have spent $881 annually on average.
  • Majority of Enterprise clients come from United States. Out of the 39 clients, 30 came from U.S.
  • Enterprise clients are not hiring from U.S only. They are mainly hiring globally.
  • Their average age in the platform is 3.7 years.

Conclusion

It is good that Upwork enterprise clients are mainly coming from U.S as it presents an opportunity for Upwork to land them in other countries. These clients are also hiring globally and not just from U.S. This means the platform won't suffer much as these clients cut spending.
