September 13, 2023: The European commission has started an anti-subsidy investigation into electric vehicles coming from China as European Union gets frightened over the ability of its automotive industry to compete. “Their price is kept artificially low by huge state subsidies. This is distorting our market,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said. "This is distorting our market. And as we do not accept this distortion from the inside in our market, we do not accept this from the outside," She pointed out. "Europe is open to competition but not to a race to the bottom.
