  • Mercedes-Benz and BMW announced new EV models at the 2023 IAA mobility conference[96].
  • “The new platforms at Mercedes and BMW showcase, for the first time, what the European OEMs [original equipment manufacturers] will be capable of. These cars are likely still a year away, but their specifications show that European OEMs will be able to create compelling products,” Daniel Roeska, senior research analyst at Bernstein Research, told CNBC[96].
  • Roeska said these models will close a large portion of the gap with Tesla and Chinese players but not all of it[96].

  • Four models, a four-door coupé, a shooting brake and two stunning SUVs will be rolled out of this concept[97].
  • It will rival the updated Tesla Model 3 that has a range of 629 KM[99].
  • Mercedes-Benz Concept CLA Class will be build in Rastatt plant[100].
  • After the start of production in Rastattt, the model will also be build in Kekscemet (Hungary) and Beijing (China).
